Armoured Fighting Vehicles
General Dynamics is a global leader in armoured fighting vehicles (AFVs) and a leading contender to supply the next generation of AFVs to the British Army. General Dynamics United Kingdom is an independent, proven systems integrator offering a unique set of skills, capability and experience in delivering scalable electronic architectures (EA) for AFVs. Modern military vehicles, including the latest Urgent Operational Requirement (UOR) vehicles for Afghanistan, rely on properly integrated electronic systems. A current Cougar UOR vehicle fitted with a pioneering EA will be on display at the General Dynamics UK vehicle stand. General Dynamics European Land Systems will display its EAGLE IV 4x4 vehicle, putting it through its paces and demonstrating its combination of outstanding protection and mobility in the demanding environment of the Millbrook Proving Ground.
General Dynamics UK provides Integration Services to defence customers and companies who need to include Bowman equipment in their programmes. Capabilities on display at DVD extend from Installation Design & Certification (ID&C), testing, cable supply, full conversion services, and integration of electronic systems onto vehicles, including non-Bowman communications, Force Protection (ECM), sensors, and power.
Bowman and export C4I
General Dynamics UK is the prime systems integrator delivering Britain’s flagship Bowman system, which provides secure voice communications, tactical internet and advanced situational awareness on operations to the UK Armed Forces. With the initial version of Bowman already in operation worldwide and saving lives in the field, the British Army, Royal Air Force and Royal Navy are currently upgrading their front line commands to BCIP5, the latest evolution of the Bowman system. Vital BCIP5 elements will be available for demonstration to military visitors at the show, including advanced military planning and order-dissemination capabilities, and enhanced situational awareness that allows commanders to see the location of their forces and the enemy in an integrated picture.
International visitors to the show will be able to discuss a range of their own national requirements. Building on its expertise as the Bowman prime contractor, General Dynamics UK has established major export partnerships delivering tailored systems for customers worldwide, including The Netherlands, new NATO countries, and emerging members of the international community in the Middle East and North Africa.
Security and resilience
General Dynamics UK has a global capability in security and resilience solutions, including deployable security command facilities, installation surveillance and protection for ports, transport and vital energy infrastructure, and urban ISTAR situational awareness. General Dynamics UK will also display configurable strategic and tactical shelter solutions for command and communications, together with the vital systems that enable personnel to live and work in hostile environments.
