July 22nd 2010 - General Dynamics UK presents exciting career prospects at Farnborough 2010 Futures Day
According to the Association of Graduate Recruiters the current economic climate has resulted in a short term fall of 40.5% in graduate vacancies in the UK engineering and industrial sector. But thanks to the award of the Scout SV contract to General Dynamics UK, as well as other ongoing contracts, young and aspiring engineers have some excellent job prospects in the defence sector, which the Company will showcase at the Futures Day Pavilion for this year’s Farnborough International Air Show on Friday 23 July.
“Working in engineering for General Dynamics UK is as exciting as it gets, but we always need young brains to help us remain at the cutting edge,” comments John Abunassar, Chief Engineer on the Scout SV project at General Dynamics UK. “The pay back is that there’s no greater job satisfaction than knowing you are part of a team that provide innovative solutions that save lives and protect the things we hold most dear.”
General Dynamics UK presence in the careers fair area of the Futures Day Pavilion is a new initiative for this year and intends to appeal not only to new engineering graduates but also 7 - 21 year olds who may be interested in working in the aerospace, defence or security sectors.
A recent graduate recruit and a member of the Human Resources team will man the stand and will share their experiences of working at the Company, explain what exciting roles exist for young graduates and showcase some of General Dynamics UK’s cutting edge technology including ASCOD SV which has been recently selected to fulfil the British Army’s Scout SV armoured fighting vehicle role.
